What type of line should I choose?
Basically there are 4 types of line we offer with our spooling services, here is a summary of what we recommend to use.
Braided Line Low Visibility (Low Vis)
This line is great for pretty much anything, bait or lures it’s a very good choice for allround fishing. It is tough, hard wearing and casts extremely well.
Braided Line High Visibility (Hi Vis)
This line is specifically designed for lure anglers in mind but you can also use it for any fishing applications. It’s high visibility makes it perfect for detecting shy bites, it’s also hard wearing and its thin diameter makes it very easy to cast light lures long distances, a great choice for allround fishing.
Braided Line Multi Coloured (Multi)
This line is multi coloured and changes colour every 10 meters. This is extremely handy when fishing from a boat or casting from the shore and you want to measure how far your bait or lure is away from you. Simply count the colours and you know how much line you have out, again this line is extremely tough wearing and is very good for long distance casting.
Monofilament Line (Nylon)
Still a practical choice, this high grade monofilament line is the perfect balance between suppleness and toughness, it has low memory for less tangles and is perfect for bait fishing.
What is backing? (Braided lines only)
On some of the reels we will use monofilament backing on the spool first then put braid over the top. We do this for 2 reasons, to pack the reel out to make sure the braid is at the top of the spool which will help you cast further and also to stop braided line spinning on a bare spool. We always join the backing to the braid so if you did need an extra bit of line for a fish you don’t need to worry as you will have that little bit more!
Can I do something different?
Of course! Just reach out to us, we’re pretty keen anglers ourselves and understand that you sometimes need something else. It’s not a problem, just pop us an email or give us a call, we will answer it!
Tips for fishing with new line
We have found with braided line sometimes you need to fish with the line a few times first to remove some of the treatments from manufacturing so it’s common to have a few more tangles on new reels. Our advice is to keep fishing, you will find with braided line once the line wears in the tangles are a lot rarer.
DAIWA has held the same dream for 60 years. To bring to the world, the finest designed reel ever seen. A reel that is so light and easy to use that it feels like an extension of your body. A reel that is so strong that it will withstand the toughest conditions an angler and the environment can throw at it. The dream to create a reel that turns the contradiction of being LIGHT yet TOUGH on its head.
Now, after a long history of innovation, and endless challenges, that dream has become a reality.
Here, for the anglers of the world, is a reel like we’ve never seen before. A reel designed for ultimate performance, joy and angling perfection.
The accumulation of 60 years in a single reel.
The history of DAIWA is a history of innovation.
The birthplace of spinning reels beloved around the world, began with the “Out-Spool,” was followed by 1989’s Super Metal Body, 1993’s Infinite Anti-Reverse, 1996’s Twist Buster, 2004’s Real Four, and 2010’s MAGSEALED…
With ground breaking designs and technologies, DAIWA has blazed a path introducing new reels to the world.
Over its 60-year history of innovation, DAIWA has remained focused on just one thing: the happiness of anglers.
Blending the skills and passion of Daiwa’s engineers and designers, with the goals and desires of anglers, Daiwa has not just ridden the wave, but has been ‘the wave’ of spin reel design evolution.
Now, in 2018, Daiwa brings to the world most advanced, technology laden spin reel we’ve ever made.
18EXIST. A new chapter in spinning reel history has been written.
LT CONCEPT
Light Tough
To use a reel that is both LIGHT and TOUGH, has been the dream since anglers first laid their hands on a reel.
In 2018, DAIWA introduced the new concept of creating a reel, that combines the contrasting elements of LIGHT and TOUGH.
The traditional approach when trying to achieve lightness is that it comes at the sacrifice of strength or durability. Even the slightness reduction in weight can have a compromising effect on strength, while the pursuit of durability brings with it its own limitations and implications. Reducing weight without foregoing strength and durability was a complex, expensive task, exclusive to the realm of hyper performance machines such as formula one race cars.
The landscape changed with the introduction of Daiwa’s LT Concept. A concept that allowed Light and Tough to coexist, and Daiwa’s dream to become a reality of bringing both elements to reel design.
